* Processing 1080p Video and High Resolution Audio via High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI v.1.3a): With three HDMI inputs, you can receive and switch the latest hidefinition components-Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD players, satellite and cable boxes, media centers, and gaming consoles-for apure, one-cable digital connection to an HDTV. HDMI also delivers the latest high definition audio format-Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio-to be processed by the TX-SR805's onboard decoders. These new formats enable unprecedented quality including bit-for-bit reproduction (TrueHD and Master Audio). Also, HDMI 1.3a gives you greater bandwidth to deal with higher resolutions, 36-bit Deep Color™and high frame rates.
* HDMI and Component Video Upconversion for a Single Output to High-Resolution Displays: The TX-SR805's HDMI inputs can receive pristine digital video from HDMI-enabled components for a single-cable output to a display devicewith an HDMI or DVI connection. It can also upconvert analog signals to HDMI so that all connected video sources can be output via one cable. And if your display doesn't have HDMI capability, you canuse the HDquality component video connections, which will also cover your S-Video and composite video sources.To support progressive scan, the TX-SR805 features a deinterlacing chip with Faroudja DCDi Edge (Directional Correlational Deinterlacing).
* Audyssey MultEQ XT for Powerful Room AcousticsCorrection: MultEQ XT is Audyssey's most powerfulbuilt-in solution for countering distortion in dedicated home theaters.This technology detects speakers, and then sets levels, delays and crossovers,as well as measuring room acoustics. Using the receiver interface, it takes up to 8 measurements around the listening area and uses high-resolution equalization filters for satellites and subwoofers.MultEQ XT covers both frequency response and timedomain (where most of the problems lie) across the entire listening area. The results are immediately obvious-a clear, well-balanced and natural sound.
* Drawing on Dual Push-Pull Amplification and3-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry: The TX-SR805 is based on "dual push-pull" amplification. Thereceiver's transistors alternately "push" and "pull" the current. In pairs, one output device (i.e.a transistor) will amplify the positive half of the waveform, while another output device will amplify the negative half of the waveform. Push-pull amplification has the advantage of efficiency, but can be affected by occasional instances of distortion. Onkyo has countered this by including a 3-stage inverted
Darlington circuit to significantly reduce distortion.
* Playback of Different A/V Sources in Three Different Locations in the Home: Powered Zone 2 and Zone 2/Zone 3 pre outs enable the TX-SR805 to bring multi-zone entertainment to your home. You can enjoy surround sound entertainment in the main room while you play back a different stereo source in a
second and/or third zone equipped with amplifier/speakers or an amplifier, respectively.You can control volume levels and balance in both zones via the TX-SR805. Also, bass and treble can be controlled in Zone 2. Bi-Amping Capability for High-Impact Movies and Music.
* Neural-THX Surround Decoder for Broadcasts and Gaming: Neural-THX Surround technology enables broadcast content to be encoded into 5.1 channels during a live mix or post-session. It can then be transmittedin a two-channel format to the home, and decoded up to 7.1 channels by the TX-SR805's onboard decoder. Neural-THX Surround will also enable 7.1-channel support for gaming, with 360-degree soundtracksthat pull gamers closer to the action.
* XM Satellite Radio with XM HD Surround and SIRIUS Satellite Radio Programming: By using the ports on the TX-SR805's rear, it's possible to access both XM and Sirius Satellite Radio. XM offers XM HD Surround, enabling 24-hour, discrete 5.1-channel surround-sound radio. The TX-SR805's onboard Neural-THX Surround decoder enables up to 7.1-channel surround-sound radio, including free-form music channels, aswell as a variety of special shows and live musicperformances from XM Live (Channel 200). SIRIUS brings access to over 130 digital-quality channels,including 69 channels of 100% commercial-free music, plus exclusive channels of sports, news, talk,entertainment, traffic, weather and data.
