Sony is upgrading its basic Memory Stick PRO Duo media line. The new, enhanced, line benefits from the same extended durability as the high-speed version, with a wider operating temperature range of between -25°C and 85°C (compared to the previous range of 0°C to 60°C). The new 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo offers affordable memory for high-capacity memory users. It works with an array of different applications including Sony MP3 audio recorders, PSP (PlayStation Portable), video cameras and computers wi h a Memory Stick slot. It is equipped with MagicGate, a copyright protection software that consists of authentication and encryption technologies. It has a theoretical maximum data transfer speed of 160 Mbps (20 MB / sec) with a minimum write speed of 1 Mbps to ensure high-quality, real-time recording of moving images. The Memory Stick PRO Duo is a scaleable solution, designed with the future in mind, and continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of users as well as the requirements of new and ex iting applications.
